Touch of the Tropics Nursery   Â
Next  Sunday 22nd May we meet at 10am at Touch of the Tropics Nursery in  Whenuapai (Jules Moore's latest creation). If you've not yet been you're  in for a treat! Gardens that showcase plant combinations specifically  suited for their location in a peaceful, calming, unique jungle  environment. Tropical, sub-tropical, shade lovers, ferns, formal,  unique, specialty - a plant for every spot! Jules will be there to show  us around and share her extensive knowledge with us all and as it's a  nursery you can also purchase plants on the day. Eftpos available. Touch of the Tropics Nursery 62 Trig Road, Whenuapai Heaps of car parking down the drive. No RSVP necessary.      Â
Optional lunch - cafe stop We meet at Totara Waters subtropical Garden in Whenuapai at 1pm so you've got time in between to stop at a local cafe. Suggestions are: Midpoint Cafe  - 102C Hobsonville Rd midpointcafe.co.nz (Parking beside café or on the side road)  Kneads All Day - 120 Hobsonville Road kneadsallday.co.nz (Parking behind café in the New World carpark)
Totara Waters Subtropical Garden of National Significance  Â
Totara  Waters is a New Zealand Garden's Trust 5 Star Garden of National  Significance and is Peter & Jocelyn Coyle's labour of love. Peter  & Jocelyn have kindly invited us to share their established  sub-tropical paradise that runs down to the waters' edge. Peter will  talk to us at 1pm. Rare sub-tropicals (including palms, cycads and  colourful bromeliads) and statuesque succulents and cacti are mass  planted across the garden. Plants from the Americas and Africa co-habit  happily in this garden - Dasylirion spp. and Nolina spp. next to  Strelitzia spp. and Aloe spp. Don't miss this rare chance to see the New  Zealand version of the Santa Barbara (USA) treasure - Lotusland. Entry is $10 cash per person - please pay on the day All are welcome - no surcharge for non-members. No RSVP necessary.
