About the Event
Next Saturday 22nd April, 2023 the Events team have arranged an exciting opportunity to explore and enjoy the amazing Riverhaven Artland Sculpture Park & Gardens and James & Cheryl Wright’s Art Industry Gallery in Clevedon, Auckland.
Join us on the long awaited tour to Riverhaven Artland Sculpture Park & Gardens (originally scheduled for May 2022).
This is a wonderful opportunity to be guided through the 40 acres of established grounds with many deciduous trees in a riot of autumn colours. Riverhaven has commissioned a large and growing collection of permanent site-specific works of art by many well known New Zealand Sculptors including; Fiona Clark, Jeff Thomson, Katie Blundell Artist, James Wright, Chris Moore, Cheryl Wright, Sharonagh Montrose, Peter Lange, Jamie Pickernell and many more.
We will be meeting at 10am for a 1.5 - 2 hour tour.
Riverhaven Artland Sculpture Park has been built out of love. When Guy Blundell’s wife Sue died over 20 years ago he started planting trees with a view of creating an arboretum. Inspired by English Landscape Architect Capability Brown, Guy planted thousands of ornamental trees and now many years later, Riverhaven looks like a park. Riverhaven Artland “a place where Nature greets Art”, where artists and visitors are encouraged to interact and respond with the living environment.
Entrance fee including guided tour with Guy or Katie Blundell - $25 per person ($45 for non-GDSNZ members)
Enjoy Anna-Maria’s delicious picnic box lunch for $25 per head or bring your own lunch to enjoy in the Riverhaven grounds.
After lunch you are welcome to head to James & Cheryl Wright’s Art Industry Gallery. Stop off at the Clevedon Co-Op next door for a coffee and enjoy while you browse through the gallery.
