About the Event
This workshop aims to demonstrate how designers can develop their own stories to promote and position themselves within a community of practice. It will highlight how a practitioner might bring diverse influences on practice together to tell a rich and variegated story of the unique contributions they can make to the design profession. Rachel will tell of her own experience identifying how she has drawn from personal recollections, literature, gastronomy, fine art and architecture in her ceramic practice and online promotion. After her introduction, ideas for the development of your own practice will be workshopped. Rachel Carley teaches in the post grad design programmes at AUT. Her research investigations are located at the intersections between interior design, visual art, ceramic, gastronomic and pedagogical practices. She is on the GDSNZ Accreditation Board.
