About the Event

GDS Away Trip to Whanganui

Thursday 12th March - Sunday 15th March 2026


Our fabulous events team with the help of some GDSNZ members and locals, are conjuring up a spectacular trip to Whanganui this March bursting with garden, architecture, artist and gallery visits including (and not limited to) the renowned Sargeant Gallery, Bason Botanic Gardens, Paloma Gardens and a number of gardens designed by local designer Sam Moore. Registrations are open now and we need to confirm accommodation soonest so we're keen to gauge interest for accommodation purposes.


Our 'away' trips are legendary. The itineraries are bespoke. The company is always interesting. They are incredible value for money. Everything is taken care of - you simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience!This trip to Whanganui will be no exception.

Total cost of trip TBC (but usually they are no more than $850).  Includes 3 nights twin-share accommodation, garden entry fees, koha, dinners out, picnic lunches, one breakfast. 


Guests must make own way to/from Whanganui in time for meeting at 4pm Thursday 12th March and from final garden in Whanganui midday Sunday 15th March. First evening will involve walking. Coach transport Friday 13th/Saturday 14th March. Trip will include visiting multiple gardens, galleries and artists in Whanganui and surrounds.


Total cost of trip TBC (but usually they are no more than $850).  Includes 3 nights twin-share accommodation, garden entry fees, koha, dinners out, picnic lunches, one breakfast.


$200 deposit is required to guarantee your inclusion (non-refundable due to many non-retrievable expenses paid to secure accommodation, gardens, etc).


This trip is currently open to non-GDS members (overall numbers permitting) for a $85 surcharge. 


Registrations closed Wednesday 28th January, 2026. Numbers capped at approx 30.
