GDS Away Trip to Kapiti Coast & Day trip to Kapiti Island

Thursday 18th March - Sunday 21st March 2027

Our fabulous events team led by GDSNZ member Susie Gifford, are conjuring up a spectacular trip to Kapiti Coast next March bursting with garden visits, nature and inspiration. Many more details to come but registrations are open now and we urgently need to confirm passage on the ferry to Kapiti Island on Sunday 21st March departing 8:30am - returning 2:30pm.

Kapiti Island is a protected nature reserve and predator-free bird sanctuary located 5 kilometers off the west coast of New Zealand's lower North Island. Home to rare native birds including kākā, kōkako, takahē, hihi and little spotted kiwi.

Our 'away' trips are legendary. The itineraries are bespoke. The company is always interesting. They are incredible value for money. Everything is taken care of - you simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the experience! This trip to Kapiti Coast will be no exception.

Total cost of trip TBC (but usually they are no more than $850).  Includes 3 nights twin-share accommodation, garden entry fees, koha, picnic lunches. 

Details are still to be confirmed but guests must make own way to Wellington in time for meeting Thursday 18th March in the afternoon and from Wellington airport approximately 5pm Sunday 21st March.

$269 deposit is required to guarantee your inclusion ($169 of which will confirm your seat on the 8:30am ferry on Sunday 21st March 2027 - limited to 29 passengers. Deposit is non-refundable due to many non-retrievable expenses paid to secure accommodation, gardens, etc. If you do not wish to come on the day-trip to Kapiti Island please indicate when you RSVP as there will be an alternative offering like a beach walk and lunch and only $200 deposit will be required for your commitment).

This trip is currently open to non-GDS members (overall numbers permitting) for a $85 surcharge.
