CONCRETE: Functional and Beautiful
For over 5000 years concrete has been used as a building material. From the utilitarian to the highly ornate, formed concrete has played a significant role in the infrastructure and architecture of New Zealand. Dating back to the 1870’s formed concrete has been the building material of choice for many of our iconic structures – dams, bridges, wharves, churches, public and private buildings. In garden design, formed concrete provides us with endless creative possibilities; as a medium it is structural, versatile, durable and highly decorative.
Chris Ballantyne - Director, Second Nature has generously offered to share us with his extensive knowledge and understanding of all things concrete.
Chris’s presentation will explore the development of formed concrete in NZ and its application in contemporary residential garden design.
